Choose industry first — otherwise you compare Dynamics 365 on the wrong basis
Dynamics 365 looks different in manufacturing, distribution, real estate, service, professional services and other industries. The right solution depends not only on the product choice but on processes, integrations, reporting, regulation and the partner profile needed to succeed.
Why industry matters
Two companies can pick the exact same Dynamics 365 product — and still end up in two entirely different projects. The implementation, the requirements and the partner profile that can deliver are largely driven by the industry's processes, terminology and regulation.
In several industries the Dynamics 365 choice is not decided by Microsoft's standard functionality alone, but by which industry-specific solutions are needed around the platform.
The ISV question is therefore also a partner question. A partner strong in Business Central or Finance & Supply Chain Management is not automatically right if the solution needs a specific industry app, certification or delivery experience.
Starting with the industry — before comparing products or partners — means the evaluation happens on the right basis: your processes, your integrations and the partners who have delivered in your kind of business.
